FAQ’s

What does Skid Row Housing Trust do?

Skid Row Housing Trust is a developer and provider of permanent supportive housing. For more information, please visit our Who We Are page.

What is permanent supportive housing?

Permanent supportive housing is a proven solution to ending chronic homelessness. It is a housing intervention that combines affordable housing with voluntary support services to address the needs of chronically unhoused people. The services are designed to build independent living skills and connect people with community-based services.

What is Housing First?

The Housing First approach prioritizes housing as the first step in ending the cycle of homelessness. It is the foundation from which our residents can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life. This approach is guided by the belief that people need basic necessities like food and a place to live before attending to anything less critical, such as getting a job, budgeting properly, or attending to substance use issues.

Is your housing free?

Our permanent supportive housing units are subsidized, and residents pay 30% of their income toward rent.

How do you apply for housing at Skid Row Housing Trust?

The Skid Row Housing Trust works with LA County’s Coordinated Entry System (CES) to match residents with their homes. For more information, please visit our Find Housing page.
